A disturbing incident unfolded in Northern California, where a man has been accused of deliberately driving a vehicle into a post office. This man is reportedly the brother of the late NFL player and US Army Ranger, Pat Tillman, according to the US Postal Inspection Service (USPIS). The investigation kicked off early Sunday morning when police and firefighters in San Jose responded to alarming reports of a burning vehicle in the lobby area of the Almaden Valley Station Post Office around 3 a.m.
Upon arrival, emergency responders extinguished the fire and took a man into custody. The USPIS later confirmed that the individual apprehended is named Richard Tillman, who has been identified as the brother of the late NFL star and Army soldier, Patrick Tillman. According to reports, Richard claimed at the scene that he live-streamed the crash on a social media platform, raising concerns about the nature of the incident, as reported by KNTV in San Francisco.
The USPIS stated, “Postal inspectors are investigating the incident as a potentially intentional act.” Currently, Richard Tillman is being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, as indicated by booking information from the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office.
Pat Tillman was a celebrated athlete known for leading his high school football team in San Jose to a championship. He went on to play at Arizona State University before joining the NFL, where he played for the Arizona Cardinals. In a remarkable display of patriotism, he turned down a lucrative multimillion-dollar contract to enlist in the US Army following the September 11 attacks.
