Late Sunday night, a shocking incident occurred on the Las Vegas Strip, where two individuals were tragically shot and killed near the iconic Bellagio fountains. This incident is currently being investigated by authorities as an “isolated incident” involving individuals who were familiar with each other.
The suspected shooter, identified as 41-year-old Manuel Ruiz, surrendered to police at a station in nearby Henderson on Monday morning. According to the Las Vegas police, Ruiz is expected to face serious charges, including two counts of murder with a deadly weapon. As of Monday morning, no further details were available regarding his potential defense attorney, and the Clark County Public Defender’s Office stated that it was unclear if he had been assigned a public defender.
During a press briefing, Undersheriff Andrew Walsh revealed that the suspect and the victims had been engaged in a feud on social media prior to the tragic events. The situation escalated when police officers patrolling the area heard gunfire and subsequently discovered two individuals lying on the sidewalk. Sadly, they were pronounced dead at the scene.
