CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn (WABC) -- In a devastating incident early Sunday morning, three individuals lost their lives, and eight others sustained injuries following a shooting at the Taste of the City lounge located at 903 Franklin Avenue. The violent outbreak occurred just before 3:30 a.m., prompting immediate response from local law enforcement.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims, comprising eight men and three women, ranged in age from 27 to 61 years old. Tragically, three male victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while the remaining individuals were transported to local hospitals with injuries that are currently deemed non-life-threatening, as reported by NYC Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch.
According to investigators, the shooting was precipitated by a dispute that erupted inside the crowded lounge, leading to gunfire from multiple shooters. Police have since recovered at least 36 shell casings from the location, indicating the chaotic nature of the incident. As of now, no suspects are in custody, and detectives are actively canvassing CCTV footage from the area to gather more information.
In addition to the shell casings, authorities retrieved a firearm near the intersection of Bedford Avenue and Eastern Parkway. However, it remains unclear whether this weapon is connected to the shooting at the Taste of the City lounge. The investigation is ongoing, with police working diligently to piece together the events that unfolded.
This tragic event is not the first incident of violence at the Taste of the City lounge. A non-fatal shooting occurred at the same venue in November 2024, raising concerns about safety in the establishment. As authorities continue their investigation, community members are left shaken by the violence that has marred their neighborhood.
