In a devastating incident, at least 23 people have lost their lives in a fire that erupted at a popular nightclub in the Indian resort city of Goa. The fire broke out around midnight at a club located in Arpora, within the North Goa district, as reported by the Press Trust of India.
The Chief Minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant, expressed his deep sorrow over the tragedy, stating, “Today is a very painful day for all of us in Goa. A major fire incident at Arpora has taken the lives of 23 people.” In response to the crisis, Sawant visited the scene of the fire and has ordered a thorough inquiry into the incident. He emphasized that those found responsible for the fire will face the most stringent legal action, asserting that any negligence would be dealt with firmly.
During a press briefing at the incident site, Sawant revealed that among the deceased were “three to four” tourists. Tragically, three individuals succumbed to severe burn injuries, while the majority of the casualties were attributed to suffocation.
