On July 19, 2025, at approximately 9:58 p.m., the Warren County 911 dispatch received a distressing call from a man reporting his 9-year-old daughter missing, raising concerns of a potential abduction. This alarming situation unfolded near Exit 22 of I-87 in Lake George, New York. The child, identified as Melina Frattolin, was reported missing by her father, Luciano Frattolin, a 45-year-old resident of Canada.
The investigation into Melina's disappearance was initially led by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. As the investigation progressed, law enforcement officials began to uncover inconsistencies in Luciano Frattolin's account of the events surrounding his daughter's disappearance. These discrepancies raised concerns and prompted further scrutiny of the timeline he provided.
In a collaborative effort to locate Melina, multiple law enforcement agencies joined forces, including the Essex County Sheriff’s Office, Ticonderoga Police Department, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, New York State Forest Rangers, as well as New York State Police K9 and Aviation units. Tragically, the search concluded with the discovery of Melina's body in Ticonderoga, New York.
