Having had the opportunity to play the Switch 2 at a recent event, I can share insights that may help ease your FOMO. My experience after a full day with the console leads me to believe that waiting to upgrade may not be a disadvantage. While the Switch 2 boasts impressive enhancements and exciting new titles like the latest Mario Kart and Donkey Kong games, it primarily serves as an iterative upgrade rather than a revolutionary leap forward.
Nintendo has strategically designed the Switch 2 to coexist with the original Switch. Many forthcoming games are set to be compatible with both systems, allowing you to continue building your game library on the original console. This approach is reminiscent of the current generations of Xbox Series X, S, and PlayStation 5 systems, where gamers can transition smoothly to newer hardware without losing their existing investments.
The Switch 2 is set to play all existing Switch games, a feature that was not available with previous Nintendo consoles like the Wii U and 3DS. Therefore, if you decide to hold off on purchasing the Switch 2, you can still enjoy your favorite games on the original Switch.
