According to Democratic lawmakers speaking to Axios, they feel confident that they hold the upper hand in negotiations, believing that Republicans are the ones who will ultimately need to compromise.
On Monday, AFGE President Everett Kelley publicly urged the passage of a clean continuing resolution to end the ongoing government shutdown. Kelley suggested that Democrats should consider supporting the GOP’s clean stopgap funding bill, anticipating future discussions regarding the extension of Affordable Care Act subsidies.
