PlayStation users are expressing their frustration as they receive a new lineup of nine free games, but the reaction has been overwhelmingly negative. The service, known as PlayStation Plus, has seen a decline in user satisfaction over the past months. Initially, it was an affordable subscription that provided a decent selection of games; however, it has now transformed into a service that many consider overpriced, offering games that still fall short of expectations.
As of today, the following nine free games are available for subscribers of PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Premium: FBC: Firebreak, Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted 2, Battlefield 2042, theHunter: Call of the Wild, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, We Love Katamari REROLL + Royal Reverie, Train Sim World 5, Endless Dungeon, and Deus Ex. While some titles in this lineup hold potential, many users feel that the overall quality does not justify the cost of the subscription.
The discontent among users is palpable, especially on platforms like Reddit, where members of the r/PlayStationPlus subreddit have voiced their concerns. Many users are considering switching to Xbox Game Pass due to the perceived superior offerings. One user, SakisSinatra, remarked, “Genuinely considering getting an Xbox just for Game Pass cause wtf is this? They gave Battlefield for PS Plus Essential like a year ago.” Another user, sonofacat, added, “Xbox Game Pass subscribers are getting Day 1 access to their AAA titles while we’re getting this st lmao what a joke.”
While there are notable games like Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes and Endless Dungeon in the current lineup, many cannot overlook the impressive recent additions to Xbox Game Pass. Titles such as The Elder Scrolls Oblivion: Remastered, DOOM: The Dark Ages, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and Metaphor: ReFantazio demonstrate a significant gap in quality and value.
The stark contrast in offerings has led to growing dissatisfaction among PlayStation Plus users. As many begin to reconsider their subscription, it raises questions about Sony's strategy. With both services priced similarly, consumers are increasingly frustrated by the lack of attention to quality and value from Sony. There is a hope among users that they will continue to express their discontent by opting out of the service, as consumers truly deserve better than what PlayStation Plus currently provides.
