If a GameChat session violates the Nintendo Account User Agreement, users involved may face restrictions on their access to online play, including GameChat itself. Therefore, it is critical to respect the guidelines and foster a friendly gaming atmosphere.
To ensure compliance with our Community Guidelines, all chat content—including audio and voice chat—is recorded and temporarily stored on your system, as well as on the systems of your chat partners. In the event of a violation during a GameChat session, we encourage you to report it immediately. To report chat content, press the C Button to select the individual you wish to report. If you prefer to submit a report after your session, simply press the C Button, access the Settings menu, select 'Report', and follow the provided instructions.
Users can review recordings of the last three minutes from their latest three GameChat sessions and highlight specific portions for review. These recordings are only accessible if a report is submitted within 24 hours of the incident. Our team reviews reported chats to ensure adherence to our Community Guidelines.
When a GameChat session is reported, the recorded chat content and essential details such as the time and date of the chat will be transmitted to our servers. Nintendo will then access this information to investigate potential violations of the Nintendo Account User Agreement and the Community Guidelines. Our review process will primarily focus on the submitted information, but we may also consider the history of the users involved.
We may disclose certain information to third parties, including authorities or legal entities, if necessary. Our primary goal in reviewing reported content is to protect GameChat users, especially minors, and to enforce the Nintendo Account Use Agreement. This ensures a safe and family-friendly online gaming environment for all.
At any time, you can withdraw your consent for GameChat in the settings under GameChat Terms. Please be aware that this will not affect the legality of our handling and processing of recordings or chat content created before your withdrawal. Once consent is withdrawn, GameChat features will no longer be available to you, but previously recorded chat content may still be reported and reviewed by other users.
