Aston Martin is unveiling an exciting new track-day version of its Valkyrie Le Mans Hypercar, which is being billed as nearly identical to the race car. The Aston Martin Valkyrie LM Hypercar features the same impressive maximum power output of 520kW (697bhp) from its 6.5-litre V12 engine, matching the performance of its counterparts in the World Endurance Championship and IMSA Sportscar Championship. According to Adam Carter, the head of endurance motorsport at Aston Martin, the differences between the track-day variant and the race car are minimal, designed solely to ensure it remains a non-homologated version that customers can enjoy on the track.
One of the significant modifications includes the removal of FIA-regulation electronics, replaced with a bespoke cockpit interface tailored specifically for track days. Additionally, the Valkyrie LM will utilize Pirelli tyres instead of Michelin, enhancing the driving experience. Carter emphasized that the Valkyrie LM represents “the most authentic Hypercar track experience that is now available,” making it a unique offering for enthusiasts.
Aston Martin CEO Adrian Hallmark expressed excitement about the Valkyrie LM, stating, “With Valkyrie LM, there has never been an opportunity to get closer to the raw dynamic forces and state-of-the-art technology deployed by the Hypercar currently competing in WEC and IMSA.” He described the Valkyrie LM as an exquisite opportunity for owners to immerse themselves in a driving experience that is otherwise reserved for professional race drivers at the pinnacle of sportscar racing.
The production of the Valkyrie LM will be limited to just 10 cars, ensuring exclusivity for their owners. Those fortunate enough to secure a vehicle will participate in a special program during Aston’s exclusive ‘Unleashed’ track experience events. The anticipated delivery of the first Valkyrie LMs is set for the middle of 2026, coinciding with two track days at Aston Unleashed events later that year.
The estimated price tag for the Valkyrie LM is around $5 million USD, plus taxes. Aston Martin is committed to maintaining these elite hypercars and will offer a tailored driver development program. This initiative aims to optimize the owners' driving abilities and provide them with the ultimate top-flight motorsport experience.
In a move that mirrors Ferrari's strategy following the launch of the Modificata version of its two-time Le Mans-winning 499P LMH, Aston Martin is entering this exclusive market. Ferrari reportedly sold well over 20 Modificatas since its launch at the end of 2023, allowing owners to participate in exclusive Clienti events. However, the Ferrari model differentiates itself with features like a push-to-pass power boost from its hybrid system, which elevates its peak power to 640kW (860bhp).
While plans to race the Valkyrie in the WEC were initially announced in 2019, they were placed on hold early the following year. Nevertheless, the development of the still-born LMH has informed the design and technology of the AMR Pro track day car, which ultimately laid the groundwork for the LMH that entered competition this year.
