The shooting transpired around 4:05 p.m. on Saturday as police responded to reports of an active shooter near the engineering building of Brown University. In the immediate aftermath, the university swiftly issued alerts to students and faculty, advising them to shelter in place. According to university officials, nine others were injured in this brazen attack, which unfolded during exam times in a campus building.
Following the incident, Brown University President Christina H. Paxson released a somber letter addressing the community, stating, “This is a deeply tragic day for Brown, our families, and our local community. There are truly no words that can express the deep sorrow we are feeling for the victims of the shooting that took place today at the Barus & Holley engineering and physics building.”
