A routine railway journey turned into a scene of terror when multiple passengers were stabbed aboard a train traveling through eastern England. This shocking incident occurred on Saturday evening, resulting in injuries to nearly a dozen individuals. Authorities have arrested two men in connection with the attack, although one has since been released after it was determined that he was not involved. The police continue to investigate the motive behind this violent act, asserting that it does not seem to be linked to terrorism.
The ill-fated train departed from Doncaster, northern England, at 6:25 p.m., destined for London’s King’s Cross station. Just after leaving the Peterborough stop, passengers began reporting stabbings on board. Eyewitness accounts reveal a scene of panic, with travelers rushing to escape the carriage where the violence erupted. One passenger, Olly Foster, recalled hearing frantic shouts of “Run, run, there is a guy stabbing literally everyone.” Initially mistaking it for a Halloween prank, he soon realized the seriousness of the situation when he noticed blood on his hands from touching the train seats.
The response from the British Transport Police was swift. They received the first emergency calls at 7:42 p.m., and within minutes, a significant number of officers, including specialist firearms units and paramedics, arrived at Huntingdon station, approximately 75 miles north of London. The train made an unscheduled stop, allowing passengers to escape as armed police approached the scene.
Within eight minutes of the first emergency calls, police had boarded the train and detained two suspects. Witnesses reported that officers used a Taser to subdue one individual who was armed with a large knife. Following the investigation, one of the suspects, a 35-year-old British man, was released without charges, while the second suspect, a 32-year-old man, remains in custody on suspicion of attempted murder. In total, ten individuals were transported to local hospitals, with an additional person seeking medical attention independently. Initially, nine of the victims were reported to have life-threatening injuries. However, by Sunday evening, only one individual remained in critical condition—a railway staff member who bravely intervened during the attack.
