Samsung has officially rolled out the stable One UI 7 update, based on Android 15, for the Galaxy S23 series in the US, specifically for carrier-locked units. This significant update, identified by firmware version DYD9, comes packed with a refreshed user interface and enhanced features tailored for the 2023 flagship lineup.
The 5GB update introduces a redesigned UI, complete with new app icons, smoother animations, and a customizable lock screen featuring the Now Bar, which provides real-time updates. With the inclusion of Galaxy AI enhancements, users can expect advanced writing assistance that elevates productivity levels. Furthermore, the April 2025 security patch ensures robust protection against potential vulnerabilities.
Users of US-locked Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra devices can now look forward to a streamlined experience characterized by revamped widgets and improved performance. To install the update, simply navigate to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install. Samsung recommends backing up your data and using a stable Wi-Fi connection due to the update’s size.
For those using a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6, Flip6, or Tab S10, you may have noticed that the new One UI 7 Home Up module from Good Lock is not yet available. Originally slated for an early April release, the Home Up module is still pending for these devices running One UI 7. However, the good news is that Samsung is nearing the release of Home Up for these devices, with expectations set for early next month.
The Home Up feature is particularly popular for its DIY home screen options and personalized user experience. Until recently, it was limited to the S series, but demand has surged as One UI 7 has become available on a wider range of devices. Samsung's team is actively working to adapt Home Up for foldables and tablets. For instance, a feature called “Cover Screen Mirroring” is in development to customize the cover display for devices like the Z Fold6 and Flip6.
On the other hand, tablets such as the Tab S10 require support for both landscape and portrait modes, which adds to the complexity. Samsung initially aimed for an early April 2025 release of Home Up for these devices, but the project is still under renewal, with indications that it “will return soon.” The updated timeline suggests a rollout in early May 2025, as Samsung finalizes the module for One UI 7 compatibility.
Samsung has recently begun rolling out the One UI 7 update for several of its popular devices, including the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy S24 FE, and Galaxy Tab S10 series. Currently, the One UI 7 update is only available in select countries, but new information hints that a global rollout is set to begin early next week for these smartphones.
Tipster @tarunvats reported on the Samsung Thailand Newsroom that the One UI 7 update will soon be accessible to a larger audience. The post indicated a late April availability for the Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S10 series, with a continued rollout to other devices in the following months. As we approach the end of April, users can anticipate the global rollout to commence shortly.
Samsung has shared essential precautions for users planning to upgrade their tablets to One UI 7, particularly those utilizing specific home screen setups. A recent community post from a Good Lock moderator outlined tips to help avoid issues with home screen arrangements after the upgrade.
If your setup meets both of the following conditions, it's crucial to make adjustments before proceeding with the update:
Home Screen Arrangement: If you use the ‘Home Up – Home Screen Arrangement’ feature, consider changing your home screen to a vertical layout (e.g., a 5×7 grid) instead of a horizontal one. Widgets Using Full Vertical Space: If you have widgets occupying the full vertical space on your home screen, such as a 3×7 widget, adjustments will be necessary. To mitigate the risk of encountering home screen issues after the update, users can follow these two options:
Change the home screen layout in One UI 6, switching from a 5×7 grid to a 7×5 layout for a more horizontal focus. Remove any widgets that fill the vertical space entirely.By adhering to these precautions, users can ensure a smoother transition to One UI 7. Samsung has cautioned that failing to follow these steps may result in ongoing issues with home screen layout post-upgrade.
If you own a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 or Z Fold5, it's time to embrace the One UI 7 update in the US. The latest OS update is now being deployed for these foldables, bringing a completely new design and enhanced Galaxy AI features. The update can be identified by PDA build versions F731USQU6EYD9 for the Galaxy Z Flip5 and F946USQU6EYD9 for the Z Fold5, alongside the latest April 2025 security patches.
Verizon has recently begun distributing the One UI 7 update for the Galaxy S24 series, Z Flip 6, and Z Fold 6, indicating that other carriers will likely follow soon. This update introduces a modern user interface characterized by dynamic colors, a new layout separating Quick Settings and the Notification Panel, and enhanced features like the Now Bar and Live Notifications.
Additionally, the Phone app now supports native call recording, allowing users to record and transcribe calls easily. To utilize this feature, simply open the Phone app, select More options, and choose Record calls.
Make sure to check for the OTA update on your Galaxy Z Flip5 or Z Fold5, and download and install it to transition into a new world of Galaxy with a revamped interface, fresh features, and enhanced animations.
