Samsung is anticipated to unveil its much-awaited Galaxy Z Fold7 in July, and the tech community is abuzz with excitement. Today, we have the first-ever set of leaked renders, which purportedly showcase the upcoming foldable device. These renders are based on CAD designs, so while minor details might change, they provide a comprehensive look at what Samsung is currently developing.
It appears that the Korean giant has acknowledged the trend of foldables becoming increasingly thinner, a movement initiated by its Chinese competitors. Among them, Oppo's recently unveiled Find N5 currently holds the title of the world's thinnest book-style foldable. While the Galaxy Z Fold7 might not dethrone Oppo, it certainly aims to come close. The device is rumored to be 4.5mm thick when unfolded and 9.5mm thick when folded. This measurement reportedly includes the camera bump, and without it, the thickness should approximate 9mm, although exact specifics are still unclear.
For comparison, the Oppo Find N5 is 4.2mm thick when unfolded and 8.9mm thick when folded. These fractional differences may not be noticeable in everyday use, meaning Samsung's forthcoming book-style foldable will likely feel similar in thickness to the Find N5. The aspect ratio, however, remains a crucial factor, though its specifics are yet to be divulged.
The Galaxy Z Fold7 is expected to measure 158.4 x 143.1 mm when unfolded, making it slightly taller and over 1cm wider than its predecessor. This might indicate a wider aspect ratio for the cover screen, enhancing the user experience.
While the design improvements are promising, the battery capacity remains at 4,400 mAh, which is somewhat disappointing in a market where competitors manage to accommodate 5,600 mAh cells in similar devices. The Galaxy Z Fold7 will reportedly feature an 8.2-inch inner screen complemented by a 6.5-inch cover screen. Powering this device will be Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, ensuring robust performance.
The camera system is set for a significant upgrade, with the main sensor elevated to a 200 MP unit, inherited from the Galaxy Z Fold SE. This will be coupled with a 12 MP ultrawide camera and a 10 MP telephoto camera. The selfie cameras appear to remain unchanged from the Fold6, featuring a 4MP under-display camera on the folding screen and a 10MP camera on the cover display.
As the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 approaches, more details are expected to emerge, keeping tech enthusiasts and potential buyers eagerly anticipating Samsung's next big foldable release.
