Samsung has recently launched the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, receiving fairly positive reviews from tech enthusiasts. However, the company is not resting on its laurels as the holiday shopping season approaches. Alongside a lineup of innovative tablets and its first-ever tri-fold smartphone, Samsung is also gearing up to release the more budget-friendly Galaxy S25 FE.
Recently, the tech website WinFuture uncovered early renders and specifications of the Galaxy S25 FE on the British chain Tesco’s website. This new smartphone is shaping up to be an attractive option in the mid-range segment. Unlike previous years, where the FE-series was overshadowed by more premium models like the S25+, the Galaxy S25 FE seems to strike a good balance between performance and affordability. This could be indicative of Samsung's strategy for the upcoming S26 lineup.
The new renders depict a typical Samsung design with a large display, rounded corners, and a triple-lens layout on the back. The device features a noticeably improved design over its predecessor, the Galaxy S24 FE, with slimmer bezels surrounding its 6.7-inch 1080p display. This design update gives it a more premium look and feel. The renders show a "Jet Black" model, but Samsung is also expected to offer the device in "Icy Blue," navy, and white options.
While the Galaxy S25 FE boasts a more premium design, not all specifications have seen upgrades. The smartphone will reportedly retain the Exynos 2400e processor, a variant of the Exynos 2400 with a slightly lower clock speed. Performance was not a significant drawback for the S24 FE, and it is anticipated that this chipset will provide sufficient power for everyday tasks. Customers can expect storage options of either 128GB or 256GB, paired with 8GB of RAM.
The camera setup for the Galaxy S25 FE includes a 50MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and an 8MP 3x telephoto lens, mirroring last year's offerings. However, there are promising upgrades in the battery department. Contrary to rumors suggesting a smaller battery to accommodate a slimmer design, the S25 FE is expected to come equipped with a larger 4,900mAh battery. Additionally, it will support 45W fast charging, marking a significant improvement in battery life and charging efficiency for the brand.
Despite some downgrades compared to the Galaxy S25+, the Galaxy S25 FE is poised to be a solid mid-range option, especially if priced competitively. Speculations suggest that Samsung may retire the Plus series in favor of an Edge follow-up in the S26 lineup, which would include the high-end Galaxy S26 Ultra and the anticipated Galaxy S26 Pro. Overall, while the FE model may have slight compromises, it appears to offer excellent value for consumers.
As we await further details on the Galaxy S25 FE, it's clear that Samsung is committed to delivering quality smartphones that cater to different market segments, ensuring that there’s something for everyone this holiday season.
