Samsung is actively working on the rollout of One UI 8 for its compatible Galaxy smartphones and tablets, aiming for a swift release. According to Google, the stable version of One UI 8 is expected to launch sometime this summer, specifically between June and September. Early access to the One UI 8 firmware has already been provided for several Galaxy flagship models released in the past two years. Recently, a Galaxy S22 series device, specifically the Ultra model, was spotted running the upcoming version of Android and One UI on the Geekbench benchmark database. This information was shared by tech enthusiast TarunVats.
It may not come as a surprise that Samsung is advancing rapidly with the development of Android 16 and One UI 8. Based on our testing of the One UI 8 firmware on newer devices like the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy Z Fold 6, the next major operating system upgrade appears to be quite minimalist at this stage, focusing primarily on minor user interface enhancements.
The current list of features slated for One UI 8 is disappointingly small, and it seems that Samsung may not have sufficient time to significantly expand this list. However, the company is planning to introduce a One UI 8 beta program this month, which could potentially unveil new features as the program progresses. This beta phase is an opportunity for users to experience and provide feedback on the new functionalities ahead of the official release.
It’s important to note that Android 16 and One UI 8 will represent the final major operating system updates for the Galaxy S22 lineup, which includes the Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra. These flagship devices initially launched with Android 12 back in 2022 and are eligible for a total of four generations of major Android updates.
As Samsung continues to evolve its software offerings, users can look forward to the upcoming features and enhancements that One UI 8 will bring. Stay tuned for more updates as the beta program rolls out and Samsung reveals more about the future of its Galaxy devices.
