The latest addition to the OnePlus 13 lineup has created a buzz, particularly due to its exclusive availability in India. However, exciting news awaits US users as the groundbreaking AI features from this device are set to make their way to the United States. Among these features, the standout is Plus Mind, a revolutionary tool designed to enhance productivity and organization for users.
Plus Mind simplifies the process of saving important information by allowing users to store data in a dedicated “Mind Space.” Rather than manually logging important dates or appointments, users can now extract schedules, reservations, event details, and more from images or text. This information is then automatically added to the user’s calendar, making it easier to retrieve later using OnePlus’ AI search functionality. OnePlus has announced that a new version of the Plus Mind feature will be rolling out “later this year,” with enhancements that automatically categorize saved information, further improving organization.
The Plus Mind feature will initially debut on the compact OnePlus 13S, which is scheduled for launch in India on June 5th. This device is a variant of the recently released OnePlus 13T in China and is not available in the US or Europe. Both the OnePlus 13S and 13T come equipped with the new customizable Plus Key button, which replaces the beloved Alert Slider. Similar to the Alert Slider, the Plus Key can be utilized to switch between normal, mute, and vibrate-only modes, as well as execute various actions such as launching the camera, recording audio, or enabling translation features.
OnePlus has confirmed that the Plus Mind feature will be rolled out to the entire OnePlus 13 series through a future software update. The company also indicated that additional devices will eventually receive these innovative features. Users of older OnePlus models, such as the OnePlus 13, can activate Plus Mind using an upward three-finger swipe, making this advanced organizational tool accessible across a wider range of devices.
In addition to Plus Mind, OnePlus is actively developing a robust suite of AI tools. This includes an AI translation app that integrates text, live voice, camera-based, and screen translation capabilities. Another noteworthy feature in development is an image-reframing tool that analyzes photos to recommend optimal cropping options. Additionally, an AI editing tool set to launch “this summer” will automatically correct facial expressions and blinking in photographs.
Two specific features are being launched exclusively in India: AI VoiceScribe and AI Call Assist. AI VoiceScribe is designed to “record, summarize, and translate calls and meetings” directly within messaging and meeting applications, enhancing communication efficiency. Meanwhile, AI Call Assist provides automatic summaries and real-time translation during calls, making it an essential tool for users in multilingual environments.
James Paterson, OnePlus' global PR manager, shared insights with The Verge, stating that “OnePlus is working to bring these features to other regions in the future, subject to local AI regulations.” This commitment indicates that OnePlus is not only focused on enhancing user experience through innovative technology but also on navigating the regulatory landscape to ensure compliance as they expand their offerings globally.
As the OnePlus 13 lineup continues to excite tech enthusiasts, the introduction of features like Plus Mind signifies a pivotal shift towards integrating advanced AI capabilities into everyday smartphone usage. Stay tuned for more updates as these features roll out globally.
