This announcement follows closely on the heels of a similar update from WhatsApp, which also introduced the ability for iPhone users to set it as their default app for calls and texts. It is important to note that while the option to choose default apps on iOS was initially designed for the EU, Apple has decided to extend this feature to all users. However, the specific functionality allowing users to select a navigation app other than Apple Maps is exclusively available to EU users with iOS version 18.4, which is anticipated to launch to the public shortly.
