With the release of Android 16 Beta 2, Google has introduced an innovative “Switch users” homescreen widget specifically for Pixel devices. This addition aims to enhance user experience by providing a seamless way to switch between different user accounts on the device.
Upon scrolling through the Widgets list, users will encounter a new item labeled “Users.” Notably, this icon features the distinctive blue Pixel background. The widget offers a convenient “Switch users” function that allows users to quickly transition between different accounts.
The Android 16 widget, also known as “Switch user,” can be expanded to occupy the entire homescreen. This feature displays a grid or list of users, including the Guest account, available on your phone or tablet. A simple tap on the large profile avatar instantly switches the account, while the gear icon in the corner provides quick access to Settings > System > Users.
This straightforward widget is particularly beneficial for Android tablets shared within a household. Its user-friendly design offers a more intuitive alternative to the existing Quick Settings method, reminiscent of the Simple View approach.
