Gemini Live has recently received a significant upgrade that enhances its functionality by allowing real-time interaction with other Google apps. This new feature enables users to ask Gemini Live to fetch information from Google Calendar, Google Keep, Google Maps, and Google Tasks, making it more versatile and user-friendly. The rollout of this feature has begun for users of the Gemini app on both Android and iOS platforms.
Following the announcement at I/O 2025, Google has been diligently testing this new capability, which allows Gemini Live to integrate with various apps for several weeks. Now, the feature is starting to roll out more broadly, significantly enhancing user experience. Gemini Live can now interact through app-specific extensions, a functionality that has been part of the standard version of Gemini. However, the Live version takes this a step further by allowing users to interrupt their queries and change their questions mid-conversation.
The recent update was first reported by 9to5Google and has been confirmed on multiple devices running Android 15 and Android 16. When users engage with Gemini Live and inquire about information from any of the supported apps, a toast message displaying the app's name will appear. Additionally, while the information is being processed, an incomplete circle will rotate next to the app's name, providing a visual cue that the request is being handled.
In previous observations, support for app snippets within Gemini Live was noted, but this feature has not yet gone live. Currently, the update is not tied to a specific version of the app on Android, and Google is also reportedly extending similar support for the Gemini app on iOS. As we look ahead, many users are eager for updates regarding the integration of third-party apps through Gemini Live, a feature that Apple is also reportedly working on with their upcoming Siri update.
The integration of Gemini Live with other Google apps enhances its usability and opens up new possibilities for productivity and organization. As this feature rolls out, users can expect a more seamless experience when interacting with their favorite tools. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development!
