Today, Apple has unveiled a significant update for its suite of Final Cut applications, introducing a range of powerful features designed to enhance video editing capabilities. This latest release includes upgrades for both Final Cut Pro on Mac and iPad, as well as improvements to Final Cut Camera. With these updates, Apple aims to streamline workflows, expand creative options, and improve overall user experience.
The new version, Final Cut Pro 11.1, is packed with an array of enhancements and bug fixes that cater to both novice and professional editors. One of the standout features is the ability to add color corrections and effects to an adjustment clip above the timeline, allowing users to apply changes to multiple clips simultaneously. This feature significantly speeds up the editing process and enhances productivity.
Another exciting addition is the introduction of Image Playground, powered by Apple Intelligence. This innovative tool enables users to quickly generate stylized images based on descriptions, suggested concepts, or even people from their Photos library. Note that this feature requires macOS 15.2 or later on Mac models equipped with M1 chip or later.
Furthermore, improvements to the Magnetic Mask workflows include bug fixes and performance enhancements, along with a new keyboard shortcut to easily show or hide the Magnetic Mask Editor. Users can now also utilize the Quantec QRS (Quantec Room Simulator) effect to create natural and transparent audio reverbs that simulate real acoustic spaces, ensuring high-quality audio in their projects.
Staying organized within Final Cut Pro has never been easier. The latest version allows users to rename audio effects directly in the inspector, making it simpler to manage different elements in a project. Additionally, users can now reveal the source of a multicam angle or synced clip within the browser, and markers in the timeline can be moved by dragging them in a clip or removed by dragging them out.
On the iPad front, Final Cut Pro for iPad 2.2 introduces several features tailored for mobile editing. One of the major highlights is support for portrait orientation, providing users with expanded editing workflows. The addition of keyboard shortcuts allows for quicker actions, such as nudging a selection, replacing clips with gaps, and lifting or overwriting clips to the primary storyline.
Similar to the Mac version, the iPad update also features Image Playground powered by Apple Intelligence, enabling users to create stylized images effortlessly. This version requires an iPad with an A17 Pro or M1 chip and iPadOS 18.2 or later. Additionally, users can capture footage at 50 fps, offering more flexibility in editing and delivery options.
The update for Final Cut Camera 1.2 also introduces exciting features for iPhone users. The app now allows for quick switching to the 48 mm telephoto lens, perfect for capturing detailed shots (requires iPhone 14 Pro or later). Furthermore, users can play back their Log videos in SDR or HDR while applying the Apple Log LUT, enhancing the vibrancy of the original scene (requires iPhone 15 Pro or later).
For those looking to elevate their audio experience, the app now supports recording videos in Spatial Audio, creating a more realistic and immersive sound environment (requires iPhone 16). Additionally, the option to capture content at 50 fps further enhances editing flexibility.
