Apple announced on Friday, February 21, that its Apple Intelligence suite of artificial intelligence (AI) features will soon be available on another platform — the Vision Pro, the company’s innovative mixed-reality headset. The rollout is expected in April, marking a significant expansion of Apple's AI technology.
The Apple Intelligence will be introduced in beta form through a software update, visionOS 2.4, with initial support for U.S. English, as detailed in a press release. Further enhancements and support for additional languages are slated for release throughout the year.
With the Apple Intelligence suite integrated into Vision Pro, users will gain access to an array of advanced tools. The Writing Tools feature allows users to proofread, rewrite, and summarize text efficiently. Additionally, users can compose text from scratch using ChatGPT within Writing Tools. The Image Playground offers new creative avenues for visual expression, while Genmoji enables the creation of perfect emojis for any conversation, and much more.
Initially introduced in June, the Apple Intelligence suite promised to transform the experience on iPhone, iPad, and Mac by safeguarding user data. The Vision Pro, Apple's first mixed-reality headset, was launched in February 2024 with over 600 new apps and games, exploring the realms of augmented reality and virtual reality.
The visionOS 2.4 update will also see the introduction of a new app, Spatial Gallery, for Vision Pro. This app will feature a curated selection of photos and videos. Moreover, an Apple Vision Pro app for iPhone will be launched, allowing users to quickly access apps and information for their Vision Pro. Enhancements to the Guest User feature will facilitate easier sharing of apps and experiences with iPhone or iPad users.
In a concurrent press release, Apple announced that Apple Intelligence on iPhone, iPad, and Mac will expand to include more languages and regions in April with the release of iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, and macOS Sequoia 15.4. New languages will include French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (simplified), and localized English for Singapore and India.
These languages will be accessible in nearly all regions globally, according to the release. With the upcoming software updates, iPhone and iPad users in the EU will experience Apple Intelligence features for the first time. More capabilities for Siri are anticipated to be introduced in the coming months.
