The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has initiated a significant advertising campaign, valued at several million dollars, aimed at discouraging illegal immigration to the United States. The central message of the campaign is clear: "Don’t try it."
According to the DHS, the campaign comprises two distinct versions. One version is targeted at domestic audiences, while the other is designed for international viewership. Both versions convey a strong message against illegal immigration.
The domestic advertisement features DHS Secretary Kristi Noem commending President Donald Trump for his efforts in "securing the border." In the ad, Noem states: "Thank you, President Donald J. Trump, for securing our border and putting America first." She further emphasizes President Trump's stance: if individuals are residing in the U.S. illegally, they will be located and deported. Noem advises those in the country illegally to leave in order to possibly return legally and experience the American Dream.
Noem also addresses potential criminal aliens, stating, "If you are a criminal alien considering entering America illegally: Don’t even think about it. If you come here and break our laws, we will hunt you down. Criminals are not welcome in the United States."
The advertisements are slated to air across various platforms, including radio, broadcast, and digital formats, in multiple countries and regions. The DHS plans to use multiple dialects to ensure the message is effectively communicated. Moreover, the ads will be hyper-targeted through social media, text messages, and digital platforms to reach illegal migrants both within the United States and abroad.
The core message of the ad campaign is: "Follow the law and you’ll find opportunity. Break it and you’ll find consequences."
The international version of the ad warns potential illegal immigrants that they will be "caught and removed" if they attempt to enter the U.S. illegally. Noem delivers a direct message from President Trump to global audiences: "If you are thinking of entering America illegally, don’t even think about it."
