The 22-year-old suspect in the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk is reportedly not cooperating with investigators, according to Utah Governor Spencer Cox and two law enforcement sources. During several appearances on Sunday morning news shows, Cox emphasized that authorities are still working to determine a motive for the attack. He noted that more information is expected to emerge when the suspect, Tyler Robinson, appears in court on Tuesday.
Governor Cox stated, “There’s so much more that we’re learning, and so much more that we will learn,” during an interview on CNN’s State of the Union. He confirmed that official charges will be filed on Tuesday, and additional evidence and information will be available at that time. "We are interviewing all kinds of people, everyone that knows him, and trying to learn more about what that motive actually was,” he added.
Charlie Kirk, co-founder of the right-wing advocacy group Turning Point USA and a close confidant of former President Trump, was shot and killed at Utah Valley University while addressing a large crowd at an outdoor debate. The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday, and Kirk, who was only 31, is survived by his wife, Erika, and their two young children.
Tyler Robinson was arrested on Friday and is facing multiple charges, including aggravated murder, obstruction of justice, and felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury.
