Diego Borella, an assistant director for the much-anticipated fifth season of Emily in Paris, has tragically passed away after collapsing on the set of the Netflix series in Venice, Italy. The incident occurred while the crew was preparing to film a final scene at the iconic Hotel Danieli. Local news outlets report that Borella was pronounced dead shortly after 7 PM on Thursday, prompting a temporary suspension of filming.
A spokesperson for Paramount Television Studios expressed their sorrow in a statement, saying, “We are deeply saddened to confirm the sudden passing of a member of the Emily in Paris production family. Our hearts go out to the individual’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.” The medical team on-site attempted to provide assistance, but unfortunately, Borella succumbed to what is believed to be a sudden heart attack, as reported by La Repubblica.
Before his role on Emily in Paris, Borella had previously contributed his talents to the medical drama DOC – Nelle tue mani (translated as DOC – In Your Hands) in 2022.
