Authorities have confirmed that the body discovered in a towed Tesla, registered to the musician D4vd, is that of a missing 15-year-old girl named Celeste Rivas. The tragic revelation came after a decomposing female body was found in the trunk of the vehicle on September 8, just two days after it was towed from a street in Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner identified Celeste Rivas on Wednesday, stating that she was originally from Lake Elsinore in Riverside County. Rivas had been reported missing last year and had not been heard from since, according to investigators from Los Angeles ABC station KABC.
Investigators are still trying to determine the circumstances surrounding Rivas's death and how her body ended up in the front trunk of the Tesla. The cause of death is currently under investigation, with the Los Angeles Police Department's Robbery-Homicide Division taking the lead on this case. As of now, no arrests have been made.
Police were called to an impound lot in Hollywood on September 8 after receiving reports of a foul odor emanating from a vehicle. Upon their arrival, they discovered a decomposing body in the trunk of the Tesla. Investigators noted that the victim, Celeste Rivas, was approximately 5-foot-1, had wavy black hair, and was wearing a tube top, black leggings, a yellow metal bracelet, and metal stud earrings at the time of her death. Additionally, she had a tattoo on her right index finger that read "Shhh..."
The Tesla was found abandoned on a Hollywood street before being towed to the impound lot. It is registered to David Anthony Burke, a 20-year-old musician known professionally as D4vd. According to a senior LAPD source, this vehicle is one of several owned by the artist, with different individuals frequently using the cars.
D4vd, who gained fame on TikTok with over 3.8 million followers, released his debut album in April and is slated to perform in Los Angeles on Saturday as part of his Withered World Tour. ABC News reached out to D4vd's representative and lawyer for comments regarding the investigation, but did not receive a response.
The investigation continues as authorities work to uncover the truth behind Celeste Rivas's tragic death and the circumstances that led to her body being found in a towed Tesla.
