Severance, the critically acclaimed sci-fi thriller on Apple TV+, has officially been renewed for a Season 3. This exciting announcement came on Friday, coinciding with the much-anticipated debut of its Season 2 finale on the streaming platform. The show's executive producer and director, Ben Stiller, expressed his enthusiasm in a statement, saying, “Making Severance has been one of the most creatively exciting experiences I’ve ever been a part of.” He humorously added, “While I have no memory of this, I’m told making Season 3 will be equally enjoyable, though any recollection of these future events will be forever and irrevocably wiped from my memory as well.”
In addition to Stiller’s remarks, Dan Erickson, the series creator, writer, and executive producer, shared his excitement about the renewal. He stated, “The idea of getting to make more Severance with the greatest cast and crew on Earth is more thrilling to me than all the world’s finger traps combined. I can’t wait to continue spreading woe, frolic, dread, and malice with these truly incredible people.”
Severance follows the story of Mark, played by Adam Scott, a corporate worker at the enigmatic Lumon company. Mark has undergone a controversial surgical procedure known as “severance,” which completely separates his work life from his personal life. This intriguing premise has captivated audiences and critics alike, leading to the show's strong performance.
Joining Adam Scott in the cast are Britt Lower, who portrays Mark’s cubicle mate, Helly, alongside co-workers John Turturro as Irving and Zach Cherry as Dylan. The series also features Patricia Arquette as Lumon supervisor Ms. Cobel and Tramell Tillman as her loyal henchman, Mr. Milchick.
Since its premiere in February 2022, Severance has garnered significant acclaim, earning a remarkable 14 Emmy nominations during its first season. Following this success, the show was renewed for a second season just two months later. However, fans had to wait until January for its return, nearly three full years after its initial launch.
