The final two remaining dates in singer d4vd’s US tour have been abruptly removed from ticketing websites, as authorities continue their investigation into the grim discovery of a decomposed body of a teenage girl in Los Angeles. Police have not indicated that d4vd (pronounced “David”) is involved in the tragic death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose remains were found inside an impounded Tesla earlier this month.
Celeste Rivas, a 15-year-old girl, was reported missing last year. Various news outlets have reported that the vehicle in which her body was discovered was registered to d4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, 20. However, the singer's representatives have not responded to requests for comment, and police have yet to confirm whether d4vd owned the car.
The singer's scheduled performance in San Francisco on Friday has been marked as canceled on the venue’s website. Additionally, his last US tour stop in Los Angeles on Saturday has been removed from the venue’s site, with both events also noted as canceled on Ticketmaster.
d4vd was also set to appear at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles on Wednesday, an event that was previously listed as sold out but has now been taken down from the venue’s website. Representatives from both venues, as well as d4vd, did not immediately respond to The Associated Press regarding the status of the tour.
The Houston-born singer-songwriter initiated the North American leg of his tour in early August and was scheduled to head to Europe in early October. However, at least nine of his European dates have also been canceled on Ticketmaster, including the first stop in Norway on October 1. Despite this, some dates in Sweden, France, Poland, and a few shows in Australia planned for December are still available for purchase as of Friday.
d4vd has gained significant popularity among Gen Z, blending elements of indie rock, R&B, and lo-fi pop. He first went viral on TikTok in 2022 with his hit “Romantic Homicide,” which peaked at No. 4 on Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. Following this success, he signed with Darkroom and Interscope, releasing his debut EP “Petals to Thorns” and a follow-up, “The Lost Petals,” in 2023.
An unnamed representative for d4vd informed NBC Los Angeles that the singer has been cooperating with authorities since the discovery of the body. However, it remains unclear why his car was impounded. Celeste Rivas was last seen in April 2024 in Lake Elsinore, located approximately 60 miles (95 kilometers) southeast of downtown Los Angeles, when she was only 13 years old. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office stated that her body “was found severely decomposed,” but her cause of death has not yet been determined.
