In its latest box office session, Chainsaw Man expanded its reach by adding new cinemas in North America, bringing in an impressive $14.7 million from 46 offshore markets. The film, produced by MAPPA, has accumulated a total global earnings of $60.4 million, with $43.1 million coming from international markets and $17.25 million from domestic viewership, making it a significant player in the anime genre.
In Japan, the film is distributed by Toho, while audiences in Europe and Latin America have shown strong support, contributing to the film's success. Notably, Korea has embraced the movie, with its earnings reaching $18.8 million to date.
Meanwhile, the horror film Black Phone 2, produced by Blumhouse/Universal, has also performed well, earning an additional $10.5 million this weekend. Its international box office total now stands at $31.4 million across 74 markets. The film is on track with the performance of its predecessor, The Black Phone, at the same point in its release.
The global earnings for Black Phone 2 have reached $80.4 million after just two weekends. In Mexico, the film has been particularly successful, surpassing the lifetime earnings of other popular films such as A Quiet Place Part II, 28 Years Later, Halloween Ends, Smile 2, and Sinners. Following Mexico, the top five markets include the UK with $3.1 million, Brazil with $2.2 million, Australia with $1.8 million, and France with $1.3 million.
From Paramount, the adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel, Regretting You, opened with a solid $10 million debut in its first 43 international markets. This performance is 10% above the release of Where the Crawdads Sing and 23% higher than Challengers. The top five markets for this film include the UK with $1.75 million, Germany with $1.65 million, Australia with $1.4 million, Mexico with $1.3 million, and Brazil with $745,000.
In other news, Paul Thomas Anderson’s critically acclaimed film, One Battle After Another, saw another successful weekend with $8 million in overseas earnings, despite a modest drop of 34% in its performance. The film’s offshore total now stands at $114.2 million, with a global tally of $180 million as of Sunday.
Additionally, the biopic Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, produced by 20th Century/Disney, debuted with $7 million from 28 international markets. The film, which pays tribute to the legendary musician Bruce Springsteen, was led by strong performances in the UK ($1.6 million) and Germany ($1 million). The global total for this film has reached $16.1 million. While Springsteen has a devoted fan base, the film is not expected to achieve widespread success across all markets, though it still has potential in Brazil, Japan, and Korea.
