The First Lady and I extend our warmest wishes to all Americans as we join in the celebration of Christmas Day and honor the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The enchanting narrative of the Christmas miracle traces back over 2,000 years to the humble town of Bethlehem. It was during this miraculous time that angels appeared to shepherds, bringing the joyous news of a child born to impart hope to humanity, proclaiming, “Glory to God in the highest.”
Guided by a magnificent star, these shepherds journeyed a significant distance to gather around a crowded manger. In the stillness of the night, alongside Mary and Joseph, they knelt before the Light of the World, who is the source of eternal salvation and the living Son of God. The birth of Jesus signifies the ultimate expression of God’s boundless love and His profound desire to connect with His people.
More than two centuries later, we continue to rejoice in the incredible gift of God’s only begotten Son. The graces bestowed through Christ’s life, death, and resurrection continue to flow abundantly upon all who believe. This Christmas, we also take a moment to give thanks for the myriad blessings that God has showered upon our great Nation.
For nearly 250 years, the foundational principles of faith, family, and freedom have been at the heart of our way of life. As President, I remain steadfast in defending these fundamental values that render America the greatest country in the history of the world. We will always stand united as one Nation under God.
Today, especially, we remember the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who are unable to spend this Christmas with their families. While their solemn mission keeps them far from home, their unwavering service and sacrifice safeguard our freedom, enabling Americans across the nation to celebrate in safety and peace. We are deeply grateful for their devotion and hold them and their loved ones close in our hearts.
During this blessed Christmas season, we pray for an outpouring of God’s abiding love, divine mercy, and everlasting peace upon our country and the entire world. To every American and to those celebrating across the globe, we wish you a very Merry Christmas!
