Carly Rae Jepsen and Cole M.G.N. had a magical wedding at the Chelsea Hotel, filled with personal touches and emotional vows. Read all about their enchanting day!

Singer-songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen and six-time Grammy-winning music producer Cole Marsden Greif-Neill, famously known as Cole M.G.N., began their remarkable journey together during a songwriting session in May 2021. Initially, they collaborated as friends, but their relationship blossomed into romance in 2022. The couple's first song together, titled No Labels I Love You, marked the beginning of their creative partnership, which eventually led to their engagement on September 21, 2024, at the stunning Hotel Castello di Reschio in Umbria, Italy, during a month-long European vacation.

On October 4, 2024, Carly and Cole celebrated their love with a beautiful wedding at the iconic Chelsea Hotel in New York City. This historic venue has hosted illustrious artists such as Mark Twain, Arthur Miller, Jimi Hendrix, Leonard Cohen, Patti Smith, and Madonna, making it a fitting choice for the couple. Carly explained, “We knew we wanted a location that meant something to us, and the Chelsea Hotel had become a home away from home every time we were in New York.” The couple embraced the hotel’s rich artistic history, which added to the allure of their wedding destination.

The planning process was a collaborative effort, with Carly and Cole dedicating weekly dates to discuss wedding details. “This way it was only ever fun and not too much at once,” Carly noted. One of the biggest challenges they faced was selecting a wedding planner, but everything fell into place when they met Stefanie Cove. Carly’s wedding preparation included visits to several bridal boutiques with friends. At Loho Bride, she discovered a stunning dress by Australian designer Toni Maticevski. Knowing they were trying to conceive, she sought a second, more flowy dress for the reception, which she found at Danielle Frankel in New York City. Carly’s mother, Alexandra Lanzarotta, created her pearl earrings, adding a personal touch to her bridal look.

Cole complemented Carly in a chic cream suit from Husbands in Paris, paired with luxurious Gucci shoes. The couple’s accessories were curated by Carly’s stylist, Hayley Atkin, who selected shirts, shoes, cufflinks, and boutonnieres for the wedding party. The bridesmaids were inspired by a jewel-toned color palette and had the freedom to choose their own dresses, while the groomsmen also enjoyed the flexibility to select suits that reflected their personal style.

The intimate ceremony took place in the hotel’s Bard Room, attended by just 100 close friends and family. Carly expressed, “Being present and at ease was key for both of us.” The couple made their vows personal and heartfelt, sharing stories of how they met. Surprisingly, they managed to hold back tears during the ceremony, with Carly recalling, “The energy was just light and joyful.” The vibrant blue backdrop, wildflowers, and soft lighting created an enchanting atmosphere, making the moment they locked eyes unforgettable. For the first half of the ceremony, they were so engrossed in each other that they hardly noticed anyone else.

After exchanging vows, the newlyweds took a moment to themselves, stepping out to a quaint storefront next to the Chelsea. “We giggled and kissed and just tried to take it in before the cocktail party began,” Carly reminisced. At the cocktail party, Carly’s childhood friend, Molly Ryan, performed with her jazz trio, which Carly described as a highlight of the evening. To commemorate their special day, the couple gifted their guests mementos that tied back to the Chelsea Hotel and their shared history. The first book Carly gifted to Cole was Leonard Cohen’s The Book of Longing, and they also included Patti Smith’s Just Friends, which both cherish. These books, along with accompanying bookmarks, guided guests to their dinner seats.

As the evening progressed, the couple was surprised by Carly’s friend Rufus Wainwright, who delivered an a cappella rendition of Cohen’s Chelsea Hotel 2. Carly reflected, “This felt like a once-in-a-lifetime New York moment.” A few weeks after the wedding, Carly and Cole looked back on their special day with overwhelming joy. “Often in life, we’ll imagine things, and even though the reality can be good, it’s never quite as good,” Carly shared. “This day felt like the exception. It was better than either one of our wildest dreams.” The couple ensured they remained connected throughout the event by including a few special songs in the DJ’s setlist, allowing them to find each other on the dance floor whenever those songs played.
