Row had shared her journey with cancer publicly, providing updates to her followers. On January 30, she announced on her private Instagram account her participation in a new cancer treatment trial, describing it as her “Hail Mary” miracle treatment. She revealed, “After nearly 2 months off treatment, multiple trips to the ER and hospitalizations (surgeries), I am finally back to kicking this cancer’s butt!”
Row emphasized her hope for this treatment, stating, “I feel so blessed to have this opportunity to even participate in a trial, thankful to God as he paves the way for me, grateful for all of your support and prayers. ❤️ you all!”
After being diagnosed at the age of 39 in 2018 and undergoing successful treatment, Row’s cancer returned in 2022 as stage 4, a diagnosis that often leaves patients with a limited time to live. She became a passionate advocate for those with gastric cancer, tirelessly pushing for more research and awareness. Row attended and spoke at various advocacy events, sharing her story of struggle and the lengthy process of receiving her diagnosis despite severe symptoms.
Her oncologist, Dr. Yanghee Woo, explained the challenges of diagnosing stomach cancer, saying, “Stomach cancer can hide very well. It’s not very distinct unless it gets very big.” In September 2024, Row actively lobbied in Washington D.C., encouraging her followers to advocate for the Stomach Cancer Prevention & Early Detection Act, showcasing her commitment to making a difference even in the face of adversity.
