Despite the positive news, it's still unclear why Margera was originally left out of the game’s lineup. Fans have speculated that his omission may relate to ongoing legal struggles and issues with drug and alcohol abuse. However, a silver lining emerged when Roger Bagley, co-host of the skating podcast The Nine Club, shared insights during a livestream. He revealed that Tony Hawk himself played a crucial role in bringing Margera back into the game.
According to Bagley, the game was already completed when Hawk reached out to Activision, insisting, “Hey, we’re putting Bam in the thing.” Activision initially resisted, but Hawk persisted, ultimately leading them to arrange for Margera to return for body scanning and other necessary adjustments. This last-minute inclusion likely explains why Margera will be featured as a secret unlockable skater, rather than being available from the outset.
The confirmed roster for the remake includes a mix of both classic skaters and newer talents. Fans can look forward to playing as iconic figures such as Tony Hawk, Bucky Lasek, Steve Caballero, and Rodney Mullen, alongside contemporary skaters like Rayssa Leal and Yuto Horigome.
