Alec Baldwin recently faced a tense confrontation with comedian Jason Scoop, who was impersonating former President Donald Trump, over the tragic 2021 "Rust" shooting incident. The altercation occurred as Baldwin was unloading luggage outside his New York City home.
In a video shared on social media, Scoop, wearing a navy blue suit and a blond wig, addressed Baldwin with, “Alec, it’s your favorite president!” This was a reference to Baldwin’s renowned portrayal of Trump on "Saturday Night Live".
Scoop continued to taunt Baldwin by offering him a "total pardon" for the incident, saying, “Look, Alec, I will offer you a total pardon ’cause I wanna be friends, right?” He then provocatively held up a comically large ring, repeatedly urging Baldwin to “kiss” it.
Scoop continued his provocation by referencing the tragic death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the movie "Rust". He remarked on the incident, saying, “Well, Alec, if you don’t want that pardon for murdering that woman in cold blood...”
Hutchins was accidentally shot in October 2021 after a prop gun Baldwin was holding discharged. The actor was charged with involuntary manslaughter but pleaded not guilty, maintaining he was unaware the gun contained real ammunition. While his case was dismissed in July 2024, Baldwin continues to struggle with post-traumatic stress disorder resulting from the incident.
Baldwin remained mostly silent during Scoop’s taunting but eventually confronted the comedian directly. He stated, “Look at me. I want you to look at me,” before issuing a stern warning about the presence of his children in the building and threatening to physically harm Scoop if the cameras were not present.
The actor then returned to his belongings but reiterated his demand for the comedian to leave, threatening to “shove that camera up Scoop’s ass.”
A spokesperson for Alec Baldwin did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the incident. This encounter highlights the ongoing emotional and public challenges Baldwin faces following the "Rust" shooting tragedy.
