Tragic Plane Crash in Brooklyn Park: US Bank Executive Believed to be Victim

Terry Dolan, the Vice Chair and Chief Administration Officer of US Bank, is feared to be the victim of a devastating plane crash that occurred in Brooklyn Park on Saturday afternoon. In an official statement, the bank confirmed, “We are aware of reports that the plane that crashed in Brooklyn Park was registered to Terry Dolan, our vice chair and chief administration officer. At this time, we are unable to confirm whether he was on board, but we believe he was. Our thoughts and prayers are with him, his family and friends, and anyone who may have been affected by yesterday’s tragic incident.”

The statement further expressed gratitude for the lack of injuries among residents of the home impacted by the crash, thanking the first responders for their prompt service during this alarming event.

Investigation Underway

As of Sunday, authorities have not yet confirmed the identity of the crash victim. The official identification process will be conducted by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office. Brooklyn Park Fire Chief Shawn Conway announced during a press conference that the investigation is being handed over to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). Tim Sorensen, an aviation accident investigator for the NTSB, stated that the agency arrived at the scene Sunday morning and is currently documenting the crash site.

According to Sorensen, the NTSB will thoroughly investigate all potential factors that may have contributed to the crash, including weather conditions, the pilot’s experience, mechanical issues, and the aircraft's maintenance history.

Details of the Crash

Fire officials reported that they received a call regarding the plane crash at approximately 12:22 p.m. on Saturday. Preliminary assessments suggest that no one aboard the plane survived, although the homeowners in the vicinity are safe. Chief Conway indicated that a resident was present inside the home at the time of the crash but managed to escape without any injuries. He added that a fire broke out “immediately” following the impact.

The small aircraft involved in the incident took off from Naples Airport (APF) in Florida before making a stop in Des Moines. Flight records reveal that the plane departed Naples just before 7:30 a.m. ET, landed in Des Moines at approximately 11:12 a.m. CDT, and was scheduled to arrive at the Anoka County Blaine Airport around 1:15 p.m. CDT. Audio recordings from Anoka Air Traffic Control indicated that the pilot had been warned twice about flying too low before the plane ultimately crashed eight miles from its intended destination.

Response and Recovery Efforts

Multiple fire departments, including West Metro, Plymouth, Osseo, and Fridley, responded to the scene, with the Red Cross also providing assistance. Power was restored to the affected area around 1 a.m. on Sunday, and a nearby home sustained only minor damage to its siding as a result of the crash. The NTSB plans to release a preliminary report detailing their findings within 10 to 14 days.
