A couple of days ago, Samsung initiated the rollout of the stable One UI 7.0 update for its older devices, including the Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy Z Fold 6. This update marks a significant improvement in user experience and functionality. Now, Samsung is taking a step further by expanding its internal testing of Android 16-based One UI 8.0 builds, specifically for the newly anticipated Galaxy S25 series.
Recently, the Galaxy S25 was spotted running on Android 16, specifically the global version (model number SM-S931B). This discovery has generated excitement among tech enthusiasts and Samsung fans alike. Furthermore, a One UI 8.0 build was also identified for the South Korean variant (model number SM-S938N) of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This build carries the firmware version S938NKSU2BYD6, indicating it is part of the upcoming update cycle.
The identification of the fourth letter (B) from the right in the firmware version suggests that this build indeed features the next iteration of One UI, paving the way for enhanced features and improvements over the existing version.
The Galaxy S25 series originally shipped with Android 15-based One UI 7.0 software. Given that prior testing for One UI 8.0 was observed on the global version of the Galaxy S25, it appears that Samsung is progressively broadening its internal testing for this next major update. This strategy aligns with the company’s efforts to refine the software before it reaches a wider audience.
There have been ongoing rumors suggesting that Samsung aims to release One UI 8.0 earlier than its usual schedule. This move would synchronize the launch with the early rollout of Android 16. Recent reports indicate that the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will ship with both Android 16 and One UI 8.0 pre-installed, highlighting Samsung’s commitment to staying ahead of the curve.
As a result, it is quite possible that Samsung will initiate the One UI 8.0 Beta Program just a few months after the stable release of One UI 7.0 to eligible devices, allowing users to experience the latest features ahead of the official launch.
With the expansion of internal testing for One UI 8.0 and the recent sightings of the Galaxy S25 series running Android 16, Samsung is clearly gearing up for a significant software upgrade. As we await further announcements, it’s an exciting time for Samsung users looking forward to enhanced functionalities and a smoother user experience.
