On Wednesday, Oura unveiled its latest innovation, the Oura Ring 4 Ceramic, marking the company's first foray into smart rings without metallic finishes. This new collection not only features a sleek design but also introduces several exciting functionalities that enhance user experience, including Oura's first-ever charging case, a new Health Panels feature, and multi-ring support.
The Oura Ring 4 Ceramic is crafted from zirconia ceramic, a material known for its durability and lightweight comfort. Unlike traditional painted or coated finishes, the vibrant colors of these rings are derived from natural minerals in the ceramic itself, ensuring a long-lasting appearance that resists fading over time. The collection is available in four appealing colors: Tide, Cloud, Petal, and Midnight, priced at $499.
To maintain the ring's pristine condition, Oura includes a Polishing Pad designed to remove scuffs that may occur from interactions with softer metals, such as cookware and dumbbells. To further prevent scuffing, Oura recommends wearing the ring on your non-dominant hand, minimizing unnecessary impact and preserving its elegant look.
In response to member feedback, Oura has introduced the Oura Ring 4 Charging Case, which allows users to charge their rings while on the go. This portable case can store up to five full charges and connects via a USB-C cord. Both the ring and the charging case can be fully charged in just 90 minutes. The case also serves as a secure storage solution for your ring when it’s not in use. Priced at $99, the charging case will be available for order later this year.
Oura has also rolled out a groundbreaking feature called Health Panels within its app, enabling members to monitor up to 50 biomarkers alongside their daily sleep, readiness, and activity data. This innovative feature allows users to book a blood test at one of over 2,000 Quest Diagnostics labs across the U.S. for just $99. Oura's VP of Consumer Software Product, Jason Russell, emphasized the convenience of this service, stating, “You will be able to walk in and get that blood work done, rather than waiting an hour, as you might otherwise.”
Once the blood test results are available, they will be delivered directly to the Oura app, where users can receive alerts and an overview of their health data. The Oura Advisor feature will help interpret these results, highlighting what is within the normal range and what requires attention. Members can also inquire about their results, such as “What does my A1C of 5.7% mean?” or "How can I improve my cholesterol profile?" This integration of blood biomarkers and Oura Ring data provides valuable insights into lifestyle patterns and underlying health trends.
Russell explained that the goal of Health Panels is to offer users affordable access to comprehensive blood work. He noted that traditional doctor visits often focus on specific concerns, leading to overlooked data. Oura's approach allows users to gain a broader understanding of their overall health and potential underlying conditions. With Health Panels priced at just $99, Oura aims to make health monitoring more accessible compared to existing services that can cost hundreds of dollars.
Additionally, Oura has introduced multi-ring support, allowing members to pair and switch between different Oura Ring 4 colors under a single account. This feature provides flexibility for users to match their ring to different occasions, whether for workouts or style changes throughout the day.
The Oura Ring 4 Ceramic represents a significant step forward in the smart ring market, combining stylish design with advanced health tracking features. With affordable blood work access and enhanced ring capabilities, Oura continues to innovate in wearable technology, empowering users to take control of their health and express their personal style.
