According to Chatterjee's analysis, the estimated starting prices for the various models of the iPhone 17 series are as follows:
iPhone 16: $799 iPhone 17: $799 (no change) iPhone 16 Plus: $899 iPhone 17 Air: $899-$949 (increase of $0 to $50) iPhone 16 Pro: $999 iPhone 17 Pro: $1,099 (increase of $100) iPhone 16 Pro Max: $1,199 iPhone 17 Pro Max: $1,199 (no change)If these estimates hold true, the iPhone 17 Pro will see a significant price increase of $100 compared to its predecessor, the iPhone 16 Pro. Notably, reports suggest that the iPhone 17 Pro will start with 256GB of storage, while the iPhone 16 Pro had a base model with only 128GB. This shift in storage capacity means that the price increase is largely due to Apple eliminating a storage option, rather than a straightforward price hike.
This potential price adjustment for the iPhone 17 Pro would end an eight-year trend where the Pro models—or their equivalents—began at $999. However, there is good news for consumers: both the standard iPhone 17 and the premium iPhone 17 Pro Max are expected to remain at their current price points, assuming these estimates are accurate.
Additionally, the all-new iPhone 17 Air appears to have a slightly higher starting price compared to the iPhone 16 Plus, with an increase ranging from $0 to $50. Apple has successfully managed to keep iPhone prices stable in the U.S. market for an extended period, despite annual speculation about potential price hikes. This pattern suggests that Apple may be able to maintain its pricing strategy, at least for now.
