While Apple has yet to make an official announcement, the highly anticipated iOS 26 update is set to introduce Qi 2.2 support for all models of the iPhone 16, with the exception of the iPhone 16e. This update will allow users to wirelessly charge their devices using any Qi 2.2 charger at impressive speeds of up to 25W. Previously, iPhone 16 users could only achieve these fast charging speeds through the latest version of Apple's MagSafe Charger, but with the introduction of Qi 2.2, third-party options will now be available as well.
Qi 2.2, officially branded as Qi2 25W, provides enhanced wireless charging capabilities for iPhone 16 models running iOS 26. This means that devices such as the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max will be compatible with a wider range of charging accessories. Belkin, a well-known name in the accessories market, recently launched three new Qi2 25W charging stands tailored for the iPhone 16 series.
This week, Belkin introduced three innovative charging solutions: a 2-in-1 iPhone and AirPods charger priced at $59.99, a 3-in-1 charger for iPhone, AirPods, and Apple Watch for $99.99, and another advanced 3-in-1 option for $129.99. All prices are in U.S. dollars. According to Belkin, these new chargers can power up iPhone 16 models running iOS 26 from 0% to 50% in approximately 30 minutes, matching the charging time advertised for Apple's own 25W MagSafe Charger.
With the recent beta version of iOS 26 already incorporating Qi 2.2 support, users can test this feature right now. Although it is still unclear whether iPhone 16 models have officially received Qi 2.2 certification, it is expected that this will occur by the time iOS 26 is publicly released, likely in September. This development serves as a strong indicator that the forthcoming iPhone 17 series will also support Qi 2.2 technology, as anticipated by industry experts.
The upcoming iOS 26 update represents a significant enhancement for iPhone 16 users, expanding their wireless charging options and speeds. With the introduction of Qi 2.2 support, Apple is poised to make the charging experience more versatile and efficient, aligning with the needs of modern consumers who demand flexibility and speed in their device accessories.
