Google has officially rolled out its October 2025 update, now available for Pixel 7 and newer devices. This update addresses various stability issues and minor glitches, ensuring an enhanced user experience. Notably, it includes a specific fix for the new Pixel 10 handsets, tackling the “frozen or fuzzy” screen output problem.
Although we are deep into the second week of October, the timing of this month’s update release was slightly delayed due to the month beginning mid-week. However, Verizon provided an early preview of the changes expected in this update, and now users can finally access the fixes and improvements Google has prepared for its Pixel hardware.
On the Pixel community forums, Google has outlined the key features and fixes included in the October Pixel update. Here’s a comprehensive look at what users can expect:
Display & Graphics: A fix for screen flickering and sudden shutdown issues under specific conditions. Pixel 7 series: Resolution for instances where the display may occasionally appear frozen or fuzzy. Pixel 10 series: Addressing system instability issues that may occur under certain conditions. Pixel Tablet: Fix for a semi-transparent background persisting after launching the camera. Pixel 7 to Pixel 10 series: Resolution for issues where the flashlight status fails to display on the At a Glance widget. Pixel 9 to Pixel 10 series: Fix for a System UI crash that can happen when starting or stopping casting with the Media Output Switcher. It's important to note that while we refer to the Pixel 10 series, this only includes currently released devices. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is set to launch tomorrow, so it will not be included in this month’s update list. Additionally, this month marks a significant change as there will be no updates for the 2021 Pixel 6 family.
With the release now underway, users with Pixel 7 and newer devices will receive notifications about the software availability starting today. However, it may take some time for the updates to reach all users. For those eager to get the latest features, you can manually install the new release. This can be done either through a full factory image or as an OTA update on top of your existing installation.
That said, the fixes included in this update do not seem urgent enough to necessitate immediate action. It may be best to wait for the October update to arrive on your device naturally. Whether you choose to wait or update manually, this latest release promises to enhance your Pixel experience.
