Today, Google launched the preview of its highly anticipated Gemini for Home voice assistant. This innovative assistant is designed to enhance the user experience across various devices, particularly in home settings. As part of this announcement, Google also provided exciting updates regarding the availability of Gemini for Google TV.
Initially, Google's Gemini for Google TV is available exclusively on the TCL QM9K series. However, the company has confirmed that this feature will soon be accessible on a wider range of devices. While back in September, Google hinted at a “later this year” timeline, it has now refined this to a more precise release window of “this winter.” This means users can expect to see Gemini on devices like the Google TV Streamer, Walmart's onn. 4K Pro, and select models from Hisense and TCL, including the 2025 Hisense U7, U8, and UX models, as well as the 2025 TCL QM7K, QM8K, and X11K models.
Similar to its functionality on Nest Hubs and speakers, Gemini on Google TV offers users the ability to engage in free-flowing conversations about entertainment. This feature allows viewers to specify their viewing preferences when searching for content, making it easier to find shows or movies that match their interests. In situations where users can’t recall the name of a specific show, they can describe it to Gemini, which will help them locate it.
Gemini also includes a recap feature that allows users to revisit previous episodes or seasons of their favorite shows, along with the capability to access reviews and ratings. Another exciting aspect of this voice assistant is its potential for educational purposes; users can inquire about new topics and receive relevant YouTube videos to broaden their knowledge.
Looking towards the future, Google has teased that there will be more Gemini capabilities on TV coming soon. This commitment to expanding the functionalities of Gemini indicates that users can anticipate even more innovative features designed to enhance their viewing experience.
Stay tuned for more updates on the rollout of Gemini for Google TV and its growing presence in the smart home ecosystem.
