Google Maps is set to revolutionize the way users share search results with a newly developed feature that simplifies the sharing process. This upcoming functionality will allow users to create a shareable list of the first ten search results from any query, making group planning, such as selecting a restaurant, significantly easier.
As a powerful tool for discovering services and local businesses near you, Google Maps has always focused on enhancing user experience. However, the platform recognizes that there is still room for improvement, particularly when it comes to collaborative planning. If you've ever tried coordinating plans with friends using Google Maps, you know that while finding options is straightforward, sharing those options for consensus can be quite cumbersome.
In response to this challenge, Google is introducing a feature that allows users to create easily shareable lists directly from search results on Google Maps. When you search for a specific service or location, such as restaurants, you will see a variety of results. While scrolling through these options is simple, sharing them typically involves either sharing the entire search result or individual listings, which can be a tedious multi-step process.
The latest version of Google Maps (v25.34.00) includes code that enables users to share search results as a list. We had the opportunity to activate this feature ahead of its official release and can provide you with an early look. For instance, when searching for “restaurants,” you will now notice a share button alongside the search results.
By tapping this share button, users can easily compile a list of the first ten restaurant listings from their search area. This list can then be customized; you can name it, add a description, and choose an icon before sharing it with others. Importantly, if your search yields more than ten results, the feature will limit the list to the first ten but allows you to deselect any listings you don't wish to include, giving you greater control over the shared content.
While we used restaurants as a primary example, this new sharing feature is expected to apply to all common search terms within Google Maps. Although the ability to easily share search results is not yet live, we will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available about this exciting new functionality.

For those eager to see the feature in action, we have included a video demo showcasing its functionality. As with all new features, an APK teardown has helped predict this addition based on in-progress code, but keep in mind that not all predicted features may make it to a public release.
