Following a previous announcement, Google has provided a more defined timeline for the highly anticipated debut of Gemini on Android Auto and Google TV. While the launch is still a few weeks away, the recent updates from Google have shed light on what users can expect.
Back in May, during the Google I/O event, the tech giant confirmed that Gemini would be coming to Android Auto. However, the initial timeline was vague, simply stating it would arrive “in the coming months,” which left many wondering about the exact release date.
This week, at the Made by Google event celebrating the launch of the Pixel 10 series, Rick Osterloh, a senior Google executive, shared more specific information about the rollout of Gemini. He stated, “...already, you can use Gemini on your phone, and you can use it on your watch, and earbuds. This Fall, it’s going to be coming to your car, your TV, and your speakers and smart displays.” This announcement is significant as it confirms that Gemini will be integrated across multiple devices, enhancing user experience.
The mention of a “Fall” launch suggests that users can expect Gemini for Android Auto sometime in September, October, or November. While this isn’t an exact release date, it certainly narrows down the timeframe and provides clearer expectations for eager fans.
Additionally, this update hints that Gemini’s debut on Google TV is also approaching. Earlier in the year, Google teased the launch for early 2025, indicating it would arrive “later this year.” With the clarified “Fall” timeline, users can now look forward to a more precise window for this exciting functionality.
During the event, Google also teased the introduction of a new smart speaker equipped with Gemini capabilities. This speaker is designed to enhance your smart home experience, integrating seamlessly with other devices.
In addition to the upcoming releases, Google provided insights into the features of Gemini. For instance, users with the Pixel 10 can enjoy native audio functionality, while owners of the Pixel Watch 4 will benefit from the new raise-to-talk feature. Furthermore, Google has introduced Gemini for Home, which includes the ability for Gemini to read aloud Google Docs using a new ‘Audio’ text-to-speech feature, making it easier for users to absorb information hands-free.
As the launch of Gemini approaches, excitement continues to build among users eager to experience its wide-ranging capabilities across various platforms.
