Amazon is breaking its usual tradition by hosting a device event in February. In a year of significant changes, the company seems ready to embrace the unexpected. The event will be held in New York City, and unlike previous years, it won't be live-streamed.
Engadget will be present to cover the event live, providing updates on what's unfolding. Amazon has been hinting at a next-gen Alexa device for quite some time, promising a more conversational interface and the ability to handle complex requests. The question remains: will it be ready for dynamic conversations? And what innovative tech will Amazon integrate it into next? Perhaps clocks or even microwave ovens?

The latest buzz in the photography world is Sigma's newest camera, the BF. This 24.6-megapixel full-frame, mirrorless camera boasts a built-in SSD instead of a removable memory card. With compatibility for L-mount lenses, it not only captures stunning photos but also records 6K video. Its 35mm full-frame sensor supports HEVC encoding and can handle capture speeds of up to 120 frames per second. At the highest settings, users can record up to two and a half hours of video, which should be more than sufficient. The Sigma BF, available in black or silver, will be released in April for $1,999.
Google's Veo 2 model, announced last December, finally has pricing details. Initially, Veo 2 supports two-minute clips at up to 4K resolution, a significant upgrade from ChatGPT's 1080p 20-second clips. Pricing comparisons are tricky as Sora is embedded in a subscription-based service. With a $200 ChatGPT Pro plan, users can access up to 500 videos per month, whereas the Plus plan offers 50 videos at 720p for only five seconds each. Despite the pricing, Google is already testing Veo 2 AI to generate backgrounds for YouTube Shorts.
Excitement is building as Apple is anticipated to unveil a new M4 MacBook Air in March. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is preparing for the launch of this upgraded laptop next month, with current models' inventories dwindling. The M4 MacBook Air is expected to be available in two sizes—13-inch and 15-inch—similar to its predecessor. Last year's M3 MBA had an awkward launch, as Apple revealed the M4 chip just a few months later.
