Oklahoma City is set to celebrate a historic moment as the city hosts the 2025 Champions Parade in honor of the NBA champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder. This momentous occasion marks the first time in the team's history that they have claimed the championship title, achieved through a thrilling 103-91 victory over the Indiana Pacers during Game 7 of the finals, held at the Paycom Center on Sunday.
The highly anticipated parade will take place on Tuesday, June 24. According to the city’s announcement, the parade route will commence at the intersection of NW 10th Street and N. Harvey Avenue. From there, the procession will journey south on Harvey, west on NE 5th Street, south on N. Walker Avenue, east on Oklahoma City Boulevard, south on S. Robinson Avenue, and conclude at the picturesque Scissortail Park. Attendees can expect the parade to last approximately 1.5 hours.
As the city prepares for the festivities, significant travel delays are expected on both Monday and Tuesday. Road closures along the parade route will begin at 8 a.m. on Monday, June 23, and will remain in effect until the parade concludes. Streets running east and west of Harvey Avenue, Walker Avenue, and Robinson Avenue will be closed, along with north-south streets adjacent to NW 5th Street and Oklahoma City Boulevard.
In addition to road closures, there will be strict parking restrictions in place along and around the parade route. These restrictions will also begin at 8 a.m. on Monday, June 23, and will last until the evening of Tuesday, June 24. Vehicles parked in designated no-parking zones will be relocated at the owner's expense, as will any cars left on the interstate.
Motorists will be permitted to cross the parade route at specific locations until 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24, or until conditions allow. These locations include:
