This year, I am excited to share my personal insights in our Tournament Takes article, where I will delve into my approach regarding roster percentages and my overall exposure in large field GPPs (Guaranteed Prize Pools). In this article, I will discuss our Roster Percentage Report, highlight where my views may differ, and explore effective strategies to gain leverage on the field. Additionally, I will share specific thoughts related to this slate. For those looking to catch up on my previous analyses, I recommend checking out the following articles: First Look Pricing for DraftKings, Pace of Play, and DFS Best Plays. As always, for immediate feedback and discussions, our dfs Discord channels for JointheFoot.com members are the best place to connect.
My objective is to systematically walk through our Roster Percentage Report, focusing on the most popular players across various positions. Our DFS Optimizer serves as an excellent resource for comparing projections, roster percentages, and evaluating overall game environments for GPPs. It is essential to note that these percentages are estimated using historical averages from large field tournaments, providing a solid foundation for our analysis.
Note: Our Optimizer will soon update with projections for Marcus Mariota, and I anticipate his roster percentage will land between 6-8%, while Carson Wentz may see a slight decrease to around 5%. Opting for a budget-friendly QB strategy this week (with either Mariota or Wentz) raises some key questions. Who will be stacked with these quarterbacks? Is it likely to be Terry McLaurin or Zach Ertz? Are you considering a high-priced option like Justin Jefferson? I expect both Dak Prescott and Caleb Williams will be featured in approximately 25-30% of small field tournaments. While this may seem high, the presence of affordable stacking partners outside of CeeDee Lamb allows for flexibility in lineup construction.
There are various late swap options available, which I will detail further below. When selecting stacking partners, exercise caution when incorporating Keenan Allen into every lineup featuring Justin Herbert. With two touchdowns in the first two games, Allen's performance may be misleading when compared to his historical averages. Meanwhile, Drake Maye is not garnering as much roster percentage due to the emergence of $4K quarterbacks. If you aim for a unique approach, consider a skinny stack with Hunter Henry, which is projected to be very low in ownership, especially in a game highlighted by Betz in Friday’s podcast.
In conclusion, understanding roster percentages and leveraging affordable quarterbacks while being mindful of stacking partners can significantly enhance your GPP strategies. Best of luck in your upcoming tournaments!
