Speaking at the opening session of the Conservative Political Action Committee (CPAC) on Thursday morning, Vice President JD Vance praised the Trump administration’s early successes in restoring safety and prosperity to the American people. He emphasized that President Trump's fundamental goal is to achieve these objectives.
In a conversation-style address at National Harbor, Maryland, a week after his impactful speech in Munich, Vance highlighted that President Trump recognizes a historical mandate on critical issues. These include cracking down on illegal immigration, reinstating American energy dominance, and reducing government waste via the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Vance humorously noted that President Trump has signed more executive orders in his first 30 days than CNN has viewers.
Addressing the migrant crisis, Vance stated, "We have to secure the southern border." Thanks to Trump’s actions, border crossings have decreased by over 90%, and the administration is just beginning. Following the designation of several migrant criminal groups, such as Tren de Aragua and MS-13, as foreign terrorist organizations, Vance conveyed Trump’s message to migrant criminals: "Get the hell out of our country because your free ride is over… you’re not welcome."
Regarding American energy and the economy, Vance asserted that Trump understands the need to unlock the engine of American growth. "We've got to get back to having a growing economy that creates good jobs and high wages for the American people," he said, prompting applause. The emphasis was on a return to energy independence with a "drill, baby, drill" approach.
The vice president also criticized wasteful government spending under the Biden administration. "Why are we spending money on progressive, modern art projects centered around toilets in Afghanistan? That's actually something that your tax dollars were funding until very recently," Vance remarked. He stressed the necessity of rebuilding and proper utilization of taxpayer money.
Vance explained that the core objectives of the administration's immigration and border policies, along with DOGE’s efforts to save taxpayer money, aim to ensure that future generations can live securely in the country. "That is the whole goal of President Trump's agenda," he stated.
Vance received a standing ovation after the CPAC organizer mentioned his Munich speech, where he urged Europe to emulate Trump's example of restricting illegal immigration and restoring free speech. "We cannot rebuild Western civilization by allowing millions of unvetted illegal migrants into our country. It has to stop," he declared.
In conclusion, Vance criticized the Biden administration for its detrimental impact on free speech, both in the United States and Europe. He urged a return to the principles of free speech, borders, and sovereignty championed by Donald J. Trump, which he believes are essential for the future of shared civilization.
