In a significant development, Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, and Steve Bannon have been mentioned in the recently released copies of Jeffrey Epstein's daily schedules. These documents were unveiled on Friday by the Democrats on the House Oversight Committee, shedding light on the controversial connections Epstein had with some of the world's most powerful individuals.
The release of these schedules is crucial as they suggest that Musk may have flown to Epstein’s island in 2014, while Thiel and Bannon reportedly dined with Epstein in 2017 and 2019, respectively. Sara Guerrero, spokesperson for the Oversight Committee Democrats, emphasized that, “It should be clear to every American that Jeffrey Epstein was friends with some of the most powerful and wealthiest men in the world.” She further stated, “Every new document produced provides new information as we work to bring justice for the survivors and victims.” The committee’s ongoing investigation aims to hold accountable all those complicit in Epstein's heinous crimes.
It is essential to note that the released documents do not directly link Musk, Thiel, or Bannon to any criminal activities or misconduct. The timing of the release has also stirred controversy, as Committee Democrats did not provide advance notice to their Republican counterparts, who accused them of selectively presenting documents while withholding others that could potentially implicate Democratic officials.
As of now, representatives for Musk, Thiel, and Bannon have not responded to requests for comment regarding their involvement with Epstein. Although their relationships with Epstein have been reported in various contexts before, these specific documents have not been previously disclosed.
The documents were part of a third tranche of evidence obtained by the committee following a subpoena of the Epstein Estate in August. This batch contains a total of 8,544 documents, according to Emily Kassner-Marks, another spokesperson for the Oversight Committee Democrats. The materials include phone logs from 2002 to 2005, flight logs from 1990 to 2019, daily schedules from 2010 to 2019, and financial ledgers related to Epstein’s operations.
Among the notable entries, Musk is listed in a December 6, 2014, schedule with a reminder about a possible visit to the island. Additionally, there is a November 27, 2017 entry that notes a lunch meeting with Thiel at noon. Meanwhile, a February 16, 2019 entry—just months before Epstein's death—records a breakfast meeting with Bannon at 7:00 am. These details raise questions about the nature of their relationships with Epstein.
In response to the document release, a spokesperson for the Oversight Committee's Republicans expressed frustration, stating, “It’s unfortunate that Democrats continue to meaninglessly cherry-pick documents and politicize this investigation.” They accused the Democrats of deliberately withholding documents that could involve Democratic officials, claiming that the information released was outdated.
Moving forward, a GOP Oversight aide indicated that the committee plans to release unredacted calendars, call logs, and cash ledgers from Epstein’s estate, pending the redaction of victims' names. This ongoing investigation continues to seek transparency and accountability for the survivors of Epstein's alleged crimes.
