A spokesperson for Bill Clinton has publicly accused the White House of using the former president as a scapegoat following the release of controversial photographs. These images feature Clinton alongside convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, as well as a young woman in a swimming pool. This release was part of a government files disclosure mandated by Congress.
The spokesperson emphasized that “the White House hasn’t been hiding these files for months only to dump them late on a Friday to protect Bill Clinton.” This statement was shared on X, a platform formerly known as Twitter. The spokesperson continued, “This is about shielding themselves from what comes next, or from what they’ll try and hide forever.” The statement further asserted, “They can release as many grainy 20-plus-year-old photos as they want, but this isn’t about Bill Clinton. Never has, never will be.”
In the statement, Clinton’s spokesperson, Angel Ureña, pointed out the difference between two groups regarding their relationships with Epstein. Ureña stated, “There are two types of people here. The first group knew nothing and cut Epstein off before his crimes came to light. The second group continued relationships with him after. We’re in the first.” Ureña concluded, “No amount of stalling by people in the second group will change that. Everyone, especially MAGA, expects answers, not scapegoats.”
The recently released photographs depict Clinton in various social settings, including an underground swimming pool with Maxwell and a woman whose identity has been redacted. Other images show Clinton on a plane with notable figures such as Michael Jackson and Diana Ross, as well as dining with Mick Jagger, Epstein, and other celebrities. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt shared one of the swimming pool photos on X with the caption, “Oh my!” accompanied by a red-faced emoji.
Records indicate that Epstein visited the White House at least 17 times during the early years of Clinton’s presidency. After leaving office in 2001, Clinton traveled with Epstein on his private jet for various trips related to the Clinton Global Initiative in locations such as Asia and Africa. While Clinton has never faced formal accusations of wrongdoing connected to Epstein, former President Donald Trump has consistently suggested otherwise, insinuating a deeper connection.
Recently, Trump called for the Justice Department and the FBI to investigate the relationship between Epstein and Clinton. This demand is part of a broader campaign to link the Epstein scandal uniquely to Democratic figures. The timing of the photo release coincides with upcoming depositions that both Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are expected to give to the House oversight committee regarding their ties to Epstein.
