For far too long, the health, happiness, and well-being of our Nation’s men have been neglected, leading to a troubling reality: men in the United States have a life expectancy that is five years shorter than that of women. This disparity is alarming and points to a significant issue within our healthcare system, where men visit healthcare providers less frequently and often delay seeking critical care. Research indicates that men typically experience their first heart attack an average of ten years earlier than women, highlighting the urgent need for improved health awareness and proactive measures.
This neglect has been compounded by a concerning societal trend—a vicious campaign against masculinity. This so-called war on manhood has left many American men experiencing feelings of loneliness, confusion, and emptiness. The consequences are devastating: men in the United States are four times more likely to commit suicide and more than twice as likely to experience drug overdoses compared to women. These statistics emphasize the critical need for a renewed focus on men's mental health and support systems that promote emotional well-being.
In recognition of these pressing issues, this National Men’s Health Week serves as a reminder of our commitment to honor the men of America. I make a solemn pledge: we will always have your back, and we will never waver in our promise to empower you to lead long, healthy, and safe lives. Our commitment is not just symbolic; it is actionable and necessary to create lasting change for men's health across the nation.
Just last month, I proudly signed an Executive Order aimed at delivering most-favored-nation pricing to American patients. This initiative is designed to improve access to quality medical care and lower the prices of medications, making healthcare more affordable for all men. By taking these steps, we are actively working to ensure that men can prioritize their health without facing financial barriers.
Together, with my Make America Healthy Again Commission, we are dedicated to empowering men to prioritize their health and extend their lives. Under my leadership, we will relentlessly pursue a healthier future for the men of our nation. It is our goal to lift men up rather than tear them down, championing the voices, values, and wellness of hardworking American men across our country.
As we move forward, let us remain committed to fostering an environment where men's health is prioritized and where they receive the respect and support they deserve. Together, we can create a society that values men's health as a crucial component of overall community well-being. By working hand in hand, we can ensure that all men have the opportunity to lead fulfilling and healthy lives.
